The company’s history dates back to 1865, when Wilhelm Knoll opened the doors of his “leather shop. The offerings included luxury handbags, exclusive clothing and leather furniture. In 1907, Wilhelm Knoll’s two sons, Willy and Walter, took over the company from their father and devoted themselves entirely to the production of leather seating. In 1925, son Walter, without his brother, decided to start a new company; Walter Knoll & Co. GMBH.
