A circular office design in 5 steps

The approach of OCS+ shows that we always start with a thorough introduction to the organization before developing a new concept and design. Next, we determine which furniture will best suit the new work environment.

For a circular office design, we create an action plan together, focusing on re-use, revitalization, and recycling of office furniture. This plan typically consists of five clear phases:

Step one is always a thorough analysis of the existing furniture. Together with the client, we make a list that determines for each piece of furniture whether it will be reused/revitalized and which elements must be supplied new.

Together with the client, we plan the revitalisation of existing furniture. In doing so, we always consider whether revitalisation on site is possible, so that we can minimise transport (and thus our CO2 footprint). In addition to the client's own furniture, OCS+ has an extensive circular network and knowledge of furniture on the market. So we know exactly which furniture will be available from clients when we start work on your new furnishings. After thorough cleaning, revitalisation and possible repair, we can also use this furniture.

Not everything can be reused. But even for new furniture, we use suppliers who have woven circularity into their production process. For example, materials such as wood, plastic, plastics and metals are recycled and reprocessed into new furniture. In addition to purchasing furniture, you can also opt for circular leasing. Here you choose not to invest in production, but to sustainably reuse used furniture. At the end of the lease period, we take back the furniture and ensure that it can be reused elsewhere.

Proper maintenance extends the life of existing furniture. We reduce CO2 emissions by periodically checking the condition of existing furniture at our clients' premises and repairing it where necessary. We also offer preventive technical maintenance on the basis of a Service Level Agreement for the supply of second-life furniture.

Has a desk or office chair reached its last cycle of use? Then we always offer the product back to the manufacturer for reuse of residual materials. All materials are separated, recycled and offered as raw materials. Did you know that our Eco Services ensure that 80% of the product is brought back into the chain?

Minimal plastic was used, the flooring and part of the furniture are made from recycled materials, and plastic usage in the office has been kept to a minimum.
